Public consultation to inform the review of the Disability Act 2005 – Deadline 8th June
It has been over 20 years since the Disability Act 2005 was updated. The Act is being reviewed in light of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), and of practical experience of its operation. The review will also include examination of the Programme for Government commitment to place an autism strategy on a legislative footing. The purpose of this consultation process is to inform the review of the Disability Act in its entirety. We wish to invite you to make submissions if you feel that you have any relevant views, information or suggestions to contribute to the review. The initial stage of the consultation is open from Monday 8 June until 9 September 2026. A range of online and in-person consultation events will take place subsequently.
